1 minute of ur time


i have a notebook with built in wireless and ethernet.....

so the question is...
after i run ifconfig it shows eth0... is that wireless or the other??

thank you.

eth0 is your Ethernet device.

If your Wireless interface were configured, it would show up as wlan0.

i have had my wireless ethernet be ath0, eth0, and wlan0... so, i would say it all depends... i always used ipw2100, and the way i knew if it was working was to see if the kernel mod was running (lsmod)

Poetics is correct. "ifconfig -a" will show you the status of all your known interfaces (including your built-in Ethernet, eth0); "iwconfig" will let you configure your wireless interface (probably wlan0).
