[SOLVED] Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit Determining fastest mirror

hI,

I just downloaded CentOS 6.4 X86_64 with GUI (I was forced to install it with GUI - by other for administration purpose) and I had to spend atleast 2 hours how to solve the yum update / yum install thing.

All you have to do is this:

export http_proxy=http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx

export http_proxy=http://192.168.1.1:3128

sorry I doon't have any spare time to make this post good but I would apreciate if moderators will leave it, as it will help the others.

thing is, if u have a proxy server and the server will autodetect it, I didn't find a way to resolve it.

I had dns, ping yahoo.com -> reply but yum still had some troubles because of the proxy.

Cheers.

just add the proxy to the yum.conf
like all the documentation states

this is well documented in the red hat docs

I have added the proxy in he yum.conf and still yum update / yum install didn't work.
anyway I find this very frustrating, like... you have internet connection through DNS and yum doesn't work.
it works only with proxy, if it finds out you have a proxy in the network, or something like that.
