'Unreachable Host' when pinging with RedHat 7.1. Help!

Hi everybody!

I am very new at Linux. My plea for help may sound a bit stupid for some of you old-timers. Well here it goes.

I was running Windows 2000 Advanced server on this machine and it connect very well with the other machines in the network. I uninstalled it and put RedHat Linux server in place. The machine has four NICs but I have only configured two with IP address and Netmask during the installation.

When I ping other hosts in the network I get 'unreachable host'. And When I ping this Linux box from other hosts I get 'Request Timeout'. I thought I'd test the TCP/IP stack on the machine so I pinged the loop address 127.0.0.1. I got a positive response. I thought may be we have physical connection problem. So I checked the NIC, the patch cable and the hub, but I saw nothing out of place. I am stuck. What could be wrong?

How do I reconfigure TCP/IP on RedHat Linux? I tried issueing the Linuxconf command but I got the reply that the file could not be found. Is there a known issue with RH 7.1 and network connectivity? Please help me.

Thanks

well first, they don't use or load linuxconf in 7.1 no longer.. you can install it from the second install disc though.. but not recommended.
What do you get for output with the ifconfig command?? you can usually set the network configs using netcfg or use setup from the command line to check your settings.. sounds to me most likely a error in the settings...
