Workarounds for a smartphone than can no longer do HTTPS

Got an old smartphone with a browser that cannot do HTTPS connections any more, ie it fails with a message like "You tried to access the address https://www.google.com, which is currently unavailable.". It's probably because of expired certificates, but whatever it is, until recently there used to be a workaround: a site that ran cgiproxy, where you typed the https link in a form and it made the connection and presented everything as plain text http. At the expense of security of course, but too many sites force you to use https without really needing to.

Are there any other workarounds? Perhaps something that does the equivalent of cgiproxy but locally in the smartphone (nokia E71)?
