want to know how to root evo 4g ver. 2.3.3 baseband 2.12.00.0808

thats really about it...i want me evo rooted...trying to learn how to do it myself but the only walkthroughs i can find are for windows and mac...i cant seem to find anythink for linux...im fairly still new to linux and very new to rooting my own phone...always had a friend do it for me...

like i said its an evo 4g, android version is 2.3.3, baseband version is 2.15.00.0808, and the kernel version is 2.6.35.10

if theres someone who would mind giving me a nice step by step walkthrough that'd be great

The root process for these phones almost always involve running various commands through ADB, which will work the same on any OS ADB is run on. So if there is a Windows batch file or Mac OS shell script, you can just look through that and run the same commands via ADB in the terminal.

That said, I have personally rooted an Evo 4G on a Linux machine before, so I know the software certainly exists. You will want to look at Revolutionary and unrevoked.

rooting evo

I saw this link and here is the method you want to use, follow dumpeddeuces instructions, except you will not need the drivers for they are built in with the linux download. You will want to extract the file to desktop and then open a terminal window and drag and drop it in and press enter. Then follow instructions and enter key. I had to do it a couple times to get it to take but hope the helps!
