Ubuntu 15.10 doesn't recognise my tablet when plugged in PC. However the tablet goes dark screen all the time. Cannot put in my password, because my husband didn't know how to handle the Android 4.2 tablet. Before he did, it worked fine. Can anybody explain how to 'flash' an image on it, in order to reset password ?

...men, always something with 'em
Anyway, Ubuntu has a procedure to connect to a tablet...you may be able to rescue data that way...
Resetting a password may be harder. You may need to factory reset the device...all data will be lost...sorry...
As to date, since the OS was updated (a while ago)...reseting via some keystrokes/cheatcodes is not possible...
Good luck
Melissa
Dear Melissa,
Thank you for your answer, but the link you gave didn't work, so I registered this morning on unixmen, they informed on their website they would send me an email to complete the registration, but up till now didn't receive that. your link says android-galaxy-tablet, etc. but I have another made, don't know if that makes a difference. Don't know the factory - isn't indicated, it was a gift for a subscription I did once. The manual is not very explicit and doesn't indicate how to do a factory reset.
kind regards,
miramarcos
Most likely due to YT filtering...in belgium it can be accessed...I assume it's just that
Basically, the video goes through these steps:
- power the device down
- hold the volume-UP AND home AND power button until the device starts
- once powered up, use the volume-up/down buttons to navigate to "factory reset"
- select pressing the power button
- again naviogate using the volume buttons to "delete all user data"
- press the power button to confirm
- wait
You'll need to pass through the registration procedure again, but...that's the idea
Good luck
Melissa
Dear Melissa,
I could see several explaining YT videos, but to no avail. I have only a. reset key b. a volume +/- key, so no sliding key and 6 power on/off, beside card slot; battery slot and USB slot and microphone jack. I am thinking of a trustworthy software to get everything of and download a newer Android version than 4.2.2, but then again I might have to put in password - mind no pattern - which I don't have thanks to my husband. Also don't know if it possible to get anything going with Wifi with my router on this tablet. Looked on web for suitable software, but by security said it was not OK - add ware ! So I'm at a loss now and considering to buy a new one, they are not so expensive anymore. If you still have some suggestions, I appreciate, because I hate to make more environmental digital waste !
kind regards,
miramarcos
No problem, and...this is the one I gotten me, prettt happy with it. Not too strong, but lets me plmay videos on location and keep my appointments, what more do I need
Good luck
Melissa
