Okay so I replaced the screen glass cover on my old Xperia, I charged the battery, and booted the phone, the phone boots up no problem, however, the touch screen does not register any touch at all.
Before I replaced the screen cover, the touchscreen worked fine.
I have searched for solutions, but none have helped. I've flashed to the phone already, but still the touch screen does not work.
I dismantlement the phone again to see maybe I had left a connection loose or not connected at all, but everything looked fine and connected.
Perhaps the replacement screen/glass is defective, or not the right part? Where did you get the replacement part?
If it was working (then why did you replace it?), and you did not break anything else during the installation, then it can reasonably only be a bad replacement method or part.
I would very carefully replay the disassembly and reassembly one step at a time while it is fresh in mind and pay close attention to condition and position of all contact points and surrounding parts.
If you are sure it is all OK, then see about returning the replacement part for another.
Thanks for the reply, I cracked the glass cover, so whenever I typed or swiped the screen I would get little pieces of glass on my fingers.
I bought the glass screen cover from Amazon. I checked the connections and they all look secure and connected, power button works, volume buttons work, camera button works, the screen it self powers up and displays properly. I've even flashed the phone with out any issues.
I've read some ppl having the same issue, where they've taken their cracked cover had it replaced and after the touchscreen does not register any touch. Apparently they've been told that it is a hardware issue and some ppl have had the phone replaced.
I thought perhaps somebody in the forum may have had previous experience with the same type of phone and had any suggestions at all.
not the same model, but generally speaking:
these android phones are ALL crap hardware-wise. use them as long as they work, but replacing parts always entails the risk that you unwittingly break some teeny-tiny part or it's just covered with dust or grease from your fingers, and that's that then, good luck finding out what exactly happened.
or the firmware goes into lockup, but it's all just speculation, you cannot get any real info.
PCs have an open architecture - phones do not.
