Question Looking for FOSS Android App that uses GPS to show how far you have walked.

Hi.

I'm looking for a FLOSS Android App that uses GPS to show how far you have walked from point a to point b.

Does anyone know one?

Thanks.

I tried a few and none do what I need. I may just use my Desktop PC and OpenStreetMap to calculate the distance in km of my walking route.

I use Move! Bike Computer. It doesn't require you to sign up to some website, doesn't request hinky permissions (I looked at one app that wanted access to my Contacts, for Pete's sake!), doesn't send your activity to some website somewhere, and is generally well-behaved. There are little ads at the bottom of the screen, but they are easy to ignore.

It tracks distance, active time, idle time, total time, average speed, top speed, uphill, and downhill. It also can plot your route on a map.

I've tested it walking and driving, in addition to using it when I ride my bike, and it works quite nicely; it is regularly maintained and updated. Once, an update broke it, but it was quickly fixed.

I did a podcast about it five years (oh, my) ago and I'm still using it. I guess that's the best endorsement I can give.

I do not think it's FLOSS, but it works and it's free in the Play Store. I don't think you will find much stuff for Android that is truly FLOSS.

I have MapMyWalk. I like it but it's probably 3 words, not one.
