Smile linux mobile for galaxy s3. please recomendations

Hello! it is my first post, i hope nobody gets offended by any missing coma.
I have an old galaxy s3 without use and was hoping to learn how to install systems on it.
I have no experience in such thing using mobiles, despite computers are not a mystery for me.
I do not intend to use it as phone, so this function is not essential, just to clear.
I want to learn the processes and hope anybody can point for a step by step tutorial and an easy distro to do this project, please?
