l2ping and sdptool

Hi I'm trying to pair my phone with backtrack linux 5 but when I get to root@bt and I tpye the command l2ping 18:3b:d2... which is my bluetooth address. It give me a message saying can't create socket: protocol not supported. How do I get to creating this socket or opening it.

and also at the command prompt root@bt I tpye sdptool browse 18:3b:d2... and it gives me an error message saying failed to connect to sdp server on 18:3b:d2... how do I get this to work.
