What's CHILDISH about wanting to install Linux on his phone? He maybe wants to start hacking, and I give him much support for that - it's a very wise thing to do! And a mobile phone IS a computer anyway, so.....

Definitely, Today's mobile is actually a computer with different processor (mine is Arm Omap850) than intel x86 used for desktops. And alternative to most desktop applications are available for mobiles. Linux for mobile is picking up just now, and I am having a Windows mobile smartphone that is 5 yrs old.
