cant flash using terminal in ubuntu 10.04.


Ok im new to linux but ive figured out a few things somehow.....im trying to fix my droid which isnt a brick but a night mare and in terminal im using the sbf_flash utility and when i give the "go" command the error message says it could not claim usb port....any ideas?

got it to start flashing but now its a codegroup 39 checksums failure.

First off, it would help if you made the topic title a little more descriptive. It would get the topic more attention, as the current title doesn't really explain the issue at all (flash what?).

As for sbf_flash, I imagine the original problem was you didn't have appropriate permissions. For this new problem, the only thing I can think of would be a bad download of the .sbf file, or maybe a bad USB cable. Do you have an MD5 to verify? If that doesn't work, you might want to contact mbm directly with the issue.

i have a droidx that is nearly a brick, im tryin to reinstall the stock system, but the sbf_flash utility says it cant claim usb interface. is there a set of commands i can use to force the program to run? can i wipe out my droid through a linux terminal?

You said in the first post that you fixed the permission issue, now it's back? Unless you added the Droid to your udev rules, you would need to run sbf_flash as root or through sudo.
