boot problem

hi,i need help pelase! i think ive screwed my laptop up. i have an acer aspire one with linux on it which also has fedora 8 on it. i tried to install fedora 9 but ive hit a problem, how big a problem it is entirely up to you to decide.

what i did:
1. downloaded the "use 32 bit live CD (691)" from http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/downlo...d-dvd-iso.html
2. i unzipped it a 1GB USB drive
3. restarted my laptop and opened boot menu
3. hit USB boot and got a message "unable usb partition" or soemthing like that
4. turned my laptop off the back on
now i just have a black screen, the power button is on but nothing else is

does anyome know the problem and is it fixable??

Well you didn't actually do anything...extracting the contents of the ISO to the USB drive and trying to boot the computer would never work, so nothing you did caused the problem. You didn't install or run anything.

Have you tried just pulling the battery out and restarting?

didnt do anything, its still the same

would it be radical to take it apart and re-insert the HDD?

just realised ive posted this in the wrong section, can one of the mods move it to the laptop section please

Holding most laptop/notebook power buttons in for about 8-10 seconds normally makes it reboot. It saves having to to the battery.

You have to make the usb stick bootable.
