best ipod linux?
So I've decided that I want to put Linux on my ipod. I know there are at least two or three major versions out there, but whats the best/most stable one available? I don't really know anything at all about this aspect of linux. Thanks for your help

I'm not too sure about installing Linux on an ipod, however have you considered Rockbox?:
http://www.rockbox.org/ Open-source firmware. |
There is also a true port of Linux to various iPods, http://www.ipodlinux.org/wiki

I have The GtkPod package. GtkPod is a free, graphical tool for transferring files to and from the iPod. It is the Linux equivalent of the iTunes software used for this purpose on the Mac.

I used http://www.ipodlinux.org/wiki back a few years ago then I had problems with some of their newer software and gave up on it. I would head over there and read through their docs and forums to get advice on what to do with your make/model.
