Battery empties too fast
I have a cell phone Samsung galaxy S5.
The battery empties too fast. I have changed the battery. Still the battery empties too fast. I have activated energy saving mode. Still the battery empties too fast. I don't use it that much (no internet, one or two calls a day, some note taking, some pictures, I use offline dictionaries) but it doesn't last a day. Any ideas? |

Step number 1. Go to your settings>battery and see what is using the most. also try to limit icons on your(what-ever Android calls a desktop) supposedly that drains battery.
|
Turn off "Location Services" unless you get lost in your own home.
Seriously, that service continuously polls for nearby signals (sometimes even with the phone off) so that it can tell where it is. If you DO need to know where the nearest xxxxxx is then just turn it on temporarily. |
How old is the battery?
|
When I put my cell phone in airplane mode, the battery is ok.
As soon as I get off airplane mode, the battery starts emptying fast, even when I don't get any calls. |
As I said!!
|
when not in airplane mode, all of your antennas are continuously searching for a signal so it wears down the battery. if you got an older phone all of the batteries you get for it are probably just as old. They start to deteriorate as soon as they are done being made. They have no real shelf life whatsoever. So when one buys a "new" one. It may just be brand new - but falls under old stock, if so, then it is just like getting a used battery due to its nature.

Ondoho: I am sometimes connected to internet. Perhaps one of my downloaded apps is crooked. Or maybe I installed malware.
How would I get rid of malware? |
Run a malware scanner??
|
uninstall it?
edit: ok, that was harsh. what i meant: it could very well be one of the many apps you installed. or even one of those that already were installed. after all, this is android and phoning home is part of the deal. i called it "malware" but android folks call it normal. |
The Facebook app, for one, is a notorious drain on the battery. It does a lot of stuff in the background even if you don't have it open to the screen. I'm sure it's not the only one to behave so.
I'm still curious as to how old this device is. After several years, batteries may start to fail. |
^ i'm not sure but i think i noticed my phone's battery draining faster after i dropped it in the wet snow once.

Cool!!

Are you running a stock rom? If it's a custom rom it may be an issue with it
