Android (modding)

Ive heard of a few mods from CM, JF, HK, are there more, and how about the one that cyanogen got banned is there anywhere i could find that?, i sort of want a good image that is very stable, rooted, and will allow me to run Debian on it (for fun) just cause i enjoy and appreciate everything Debian. if anyone has any good ideas please shoot my way im too bord with my iphone and want to finally start with my android. i have a few builds on it atm, it loosed its stability though when you put two diff mods together. cause when you apply a new update zip it doesn't remove anything just over writes and adds.
