Android keyboard problem

I have a HTC Dream branded 'Telefonica Movistar', which originally offered just English or Spanish Locales. I rooted it with the
'Rogers Dream' methods and put Cyanogen-4.2.4 onto it. Now my Alt keys are crazy as follows: For clarity, I'll put Alt marking/result for each key
Top row(1 - 0): Correct
Row 2(q - P): tab/tab, e(accent)/`, /_, / , -/ , y(is not used), u(accent)/ ,i(accent)/-, o(accent)/+, /= . Thios corresponds to the letter p
Row 3(a - L): a(accent)/a, \/|, divide sign/\, x/{, -/}, =/;, "/", '/' (On L)
Row 4(Z- ,): </z, >/x, ~/c, :/[, ;/], n(accent)/<, ?(upside down)/>, ?/?
Row 5 . does give a / as indicated

I am set up on English(UK). If I try for a Spanish keyboard, I get spanish messages :-?. 3 things I need to enquire.

Is my keyboard normal or did Telefonica hack their own system together for this?
Can I download my original keyboard stuff anywhere?
Can I hack, gunther, or tweak my way out of this mess?
