Post android data servers for linux

we need to pass data from an android phone to be held in a file on our linux system . We presume we will require a server to be listening at a designated port ready to accept this data and write it away to a file (.csv or whichever type of file required )
does anyone have any suggestions??

What kind of data?

How do you plan to "pass" it?

a simple web server with php would probably work, you can dump the data to a MYSQL database for later retrieval, a csv file, an XML file, even a PDF, however the question is how much data and how you intend to pass the information TO the server (as a file upload, data POSTed into a form etc..)

Mod note: I have taken the unusual step of moving 61 spam from here to their own thread. Even deleted, their remains were cluttering this thread to the point of making it unreadable.
