A no %€&$#£@! browser for Android
 

I an reluctant to browse on my smart phone, and do so only as a means to a direct end. Nothing extensive is attempted.

I tried on my bundled browser (Chrome), did a search but kept getting unrelated nonsense until; I hit "close all tabs." Chrome informed me it had closed 100 tabs:eek:

I imagine that's a software limit. Show me something that will spare me that sort of nonsense, and dump stuff when I close it, please.

Have you tried the Vivaldi android browser?

My 2 cents.

For android I like naked browser pro. It has little buttons on the bottom for js and images. Like midori and falkon has/had. So that you can browse with images/js off, until you hit a page where you need to let scripts run. Also allows user agent switching.

I don't like android, but naked browser allows as light but yet functional web browsing as you can get. Might be others that do the same. The pro version(pay) gives more options than the free version.

Brave browser works well.

I am a long time user of Naked Browser for Android. I've found it to be fast and light-weight. Plus you can set it to clear cookies, history, etc. on exit if you wish. (I clear cookies, but clear history manually.)

I also sometimes use Firefox, which I do not find to be particularly fast, but which does offer the option of private tabs and other useful privacy settings.

On the pro version you can make a cookie whitelist, and clear the rest.

Firefox for android supports add-ons, and while not many are compatible with the mobile version, the most important of them all - ublock origin, is, that's enough for me. And I would recommend not the Firefox itself, but Fennec (available on f-droid https://f-droid.org/packages/org.mozilla.fennec_fdroid/), a slightly cleaned-up version - no telemetry and such, which has about:config enabled (and yes, I know that firefox beta has it too).

I'm going to install ALL of them, try them in the coming weeks, and remove rejects. I have the space.

I have Vivaldi & Brave installed.. Naked Browser refused to install, because my OS Version is too new for it :scratch: I'm on Android 11, and frankly I'm not sure about that at all. Next release perhaps?

Firefox I have left out, even a cleaned up version, because I know it. It's not on my pc either. I have palemoon, and cycled through other clones briefly. Firefox's claims of privacy ring fairly hollow at this stage. But the Old Farmer's Almanac pointed out one of the few advantages of getting on in years And the same can be said for advertisements. Who wants to advertise to old farts? I just object on principle. I remember lying through my teeth registering my wife's Apple ID. Her birthday is listed as 1/1/1886, because 1885 was rejected, but 1886 was allowed. She gets hardly any ads.

Brave is now my default mobile browser and it's patting itself on the back occasionally because it's stopping all this s&#@! from landing. That's somewhat refreshing for any mobile app.
