window decorations go away with compiz

If I switch the window manager from kwin to compiz the window decorations disappear. Is this a wonderful kde feature?

Maybe you need to (manually, if you don't have decorations right now) start a decorator. See for example this page.

I don't think it has much to do with KDE, as it does happen with other desktop environments too -- for example Gnome :)

I'll see if emerald is installed when I get a chance. Thanks for the tip.

Installed emarald and it worked. At first I thought it didn't work but I type 'emerald --replace' in a terminal and 'wala' the window decorations immediately appeared.

The next time I logged in emerald was not running but the 'kwin?' decorations were working. I again had to enter 'emerald --replace' to get the emerald decorations.

Can I put the emerald --replace command in my .bashrc so that I don't have to do it manually everytime I login?
