Will Xfce wipe or format a hard disk prior to installation?

Will try to install Xfce onto a 500gb hard disk which has Win7 Ult on it. I want it clean before installing Xfce onto it. Have tried to format it but cannot find the tool to do so in an Xfce live bootable on a USB flash stick. Help please.

Thanks.

Hey there Jofto
I don't use Xfce, general instructions should/do work.
I would think that Xfce live session has Gparted while in Live session to clean up the HD with WIn$
If you find there is no Gparted in your Live sess you can install it onto the live sess, will be gone after you log out/reboot ( in ram etc etc )
so do all you have to do e.g. setting up partitions and formatting to I presume Ext4 format before you exit the Live sess and you should sweet to go.

Isn't there an option to write over/use the entire disk space and that would save a little bit of unless you want to play with Gparted

That will give a clean HD install without user intervention.

Yes the Mint installer provides several options, install as the only operating system, install along side Windows or something else which is the manual partitioning option. The install as the only OS will overwrite whatever exists on the drive.

Thank you, Gentlemen.
I clicked on Disks or Disk Usage Analyzer, don't remember, and then had the folders and files deleted. Then, at the installation, the installer did everything and the installation was completed easily, and almost automatically.
Thank you and really appreciate your help.
