Where can I get Linux Mint 19.2 cinnamon 32 Bit?

Where can I get Linux Mint 19.2 cinnamon 32 Bit?

I have tried over the last week to get a working version from UK, Dutch and German servers the installation hangs just after the login appears on the screen and before the cursor should appear.

64 Bit version is OK as usual

Really odd any ideas please.

Well that was a waste of my time. Why did you not test it before you went to print.

It does not work.

Please explain what you mean by does not work. The posted link was a list of mirrors and you should of been able to select from one to download the iso file.

All the mirrors I have tried on this link do not work.

See original post it hangs before the cursor normally appears.

You obviously have not tried it before you sent you message as your reply was within 5 minutes of it hanging on my laptop when I then sent the message.

For avoidance of any doubt whether it is my machine. I just put a dual boot Tails 32 Bit and Linux Mint 19.1 "Tessa" cinnamon 32 Bit in and the Mint worked OK.

I did not get the flashing cursor up in the top corner before the cursor appears when it does work. That happens with all the 19.2 cinnamon 32 bit downloads I have had to date.

I tried the Germany and UK links and they all seemed to work using a Windows 10 PC and CentOS with Firefox. The save dialog box popped up successfully and I started the download but canceled after about 10 seconds.

Thank you that did not help in any way. Perhaps next time you may make a 32 bit disc TRY INSTALLING IT and find out IT DOES NOT WORK!

Sorry, I get it now It will take me a bit to install it as a virtual machine.

I just installed Mint 19.2 as a VirtualBox VM and here is the screenshot. I had to start the installation in compatibility mode but once installed it boot into the desktop ok. Could be a video driver problem although I would of expected that to show up earlier in the boot cycle.

I downloaded the ISO image from the UKFast mirror.

Sorry that only proves it runs on a virtual machine not a real machine. It does not install on a real machine.

You do not need to actual install it but get to the start screen where you have the icon Install Linux Mint. You can not arrive there with a real machine.

It halts before that screen before the pointer cursor is visible which you can then move about and after where it says login. It ends with a black screen with just a _ in the top left.

Please try it and see if I am correct.

Bearing in mind I am talking about the 32 Bit version which I presume you used. 64 Bit has no problem.

Please note 19.1 32 bit works OK as always.

Well that won't help solve your problem.

OK.
Options:
  • bring the machine round to my place, we can test it there
  • provide some troubleshooting information that can help us narrow the problem down
Also, why don't you just use the 64bit version?

michaelk 08-29-2019 02:38 AM

It is a 32 bit version downloaded from the posted link. I hopefully had the same problem as you did at first.

When it first boots at the count down screen before it reaches zero press the enter key. You will be presented with a boot menu screen. Select compatibility mode.

As far as I know there is no login screen before you get to the desktop on a live version.

I do not see compatibility mode I see OEM for manufacturers and tried that and it does work then. Cannot tell customers to do this as it has to work properly accepting the first line as usual.

Yes there is a login screen after the LM disappears with the 5 dots underneath before the active cursor screen when it shows a pointer arrow if you watch it appears for 2 seconds

It still means it has to be fixed and I am amazed at it has gone on for two weeks at least and not been fixed.

Do you see one of the following when you boot your installation media? Are you booting from USB or DVD?
