using wicd instead of network manager
I messed my system up the last time I downloaded wicd and then removed network manager. I never could get it back. I had a thread for help and a lot of people tried to help me but I don't have the knowledge to even be helped sometimes. It was a 3 page thread and several days of support.
What happened was when I rebooted after removing network manager I could login and then the screen went black. I could then go to the txt mode with ctrl+alt+f * . I could never get the right Xorg.log in order to find what was wrong.
What I want to know is since my netowrk manager (after reinstalling ) is dropping me and having trouble connectiing and since wicd works fine if I download wicd and then DISABLE network manager instead of removing it will that work? I would not be removing anything so it seems to me it would work but I don't know how to disable network manager either.
Thanks,
Nate
