Unable to install Mint Linux 17

I have a brand new motherboard and CPU and cannot install Mint 17.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
CPU: AMD FX-6300
RAM: 12GB.

With my new system I am able to navigate through the BIOS using keyboard and mouse. I can tell the system to boot from the optical disc. After the live system is loaded, neither the keyboard nor the mouse shows any response from the system. All I can do is power off.

I am able to install Fedora and Windows with no problem so I know that my hardware is working properly.

I have tried Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse and Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse. Also USB connected keyboard and mouse. I do not have access to a PS2 keyboard and mouse at this time.

It appears that the USB drivers are not working on this Mint distribution.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
