Sudden folder disappearances on Linux Mint Rebecca Cinnamon after changing language

OK, so over the course of about 6 months now I've been building a very large movie and TV show library on my laptop.

I have a folder for each movie and its sequels, and for each TV show and season.

Today, I decided to change my computer's main language to Spanish, as I am fluent in the language and just felt like switching it up a little.

I installed all the proper Spanish language packs, rebooted my computer, and logged back in.

At this point I decided why not watch a good movie for a couple of hours? So I went into my video folders and...

It was empty.

I think I had a few heart attacks, but that's not what's important. Anyways, what's weird is I think they're still on the computer somewhere, I just can't find them. I checked how much hard drive space I had left yesterday, and it was still the same just a few moments ago. But all of the folders, movies, videos, episodes are all gone now.

If anyone has had this problem before, please drop some wisdom.

I will try to check on this thread as often as possible.

If you know file/directory names then run a find on them.

Code:
find / -name "filename"

Update

Thanks to the last reply, I will try that immediately after posting this reply and will tell you if it worked.

But while working on the error, I changed the language back to English to see if maybe they would show back up.

So after changing the language and applying it system-wide, the names of the files (ex. Pictures, Videos) are still showing in Spanish (ex. Imágenes, Vídeos) and the movies are still not showing.

Is there any way to change the directory names back to English?

I already tried to post this comment, but for some reason it didn't work...

Anywhos, I changed the system language back to English

However, the directory names (Pictures, Videos) still remain in Spanish (Imgenes, Vdeos)

is there any way to fix that while we're at it?

OK I just realized something that makes this thread about 100 times more important to me

I just remembered I had finished an anatomy school slideshow project, and I was gonna put it on my flash drive, but it's one of the many things that disappeared

This thing is due in like two days

I'm gonna die

UPDATE

I have found the old files

I used Gentoo file manager, and I can view the old files!

It seems the only problem is getting the correct directories to show in my default file manager

TL;DR: Found the old files, can't get them to show as default directories

I HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM

I WILL MARK THIS PROBLEM AS SOLVED

Ok so I used gentoo to find out where those folders were hiding, and put them into the default explorer, now they show up

Thank you Jesus
