[SOLVED] software manager very slow downloads

I have just installed Linux Mint 10, and have installed 3 packages: Frozen Bubble, emacs, and am currently getting kpat. I am using Software Manager (what program???) with the out-of-the-box configuration, sources, etc. So far to get FB, emacs, and 44% of kpat it's taken close to 2 hours on a broadband satellite connection.

Is there a problem with the server or do I need to tweak something?

You could try to use another mirror.

Quote:

* Open Menu->Administration->Software Sources
* Click on the “Download from: Main Server” combo box
* Select “Other”.
* Chose a mirror close to your location.
* Click the “Choose Server” button.
* Click the “Close” button.
* Click the “Reload” button.

Thanks. I let it choose the best one automatically and it was much faster tonight.
