Software manager does not run

Hi - can not open software manager GUI (which worked with no problem), could you advise, please?

$ mintinstall
Vector smash protection is enabled.
add_categories took 1.436 ms
build_matched_packages took 0.211 ms
add_packages took 6477.542 ms
add_reviews took 1383.026 ms
__init__ took 8649.408 ms
Segmentation fault

Is it because of this bug? Mintinstall not running linux mint debian

Is there a way to get back to the working state, please?

mintinstall is NOT the software manager!!! the software manager is in your graphical menu, and is called, surprise: software manager

My intuition=guess is that it's not a bug. More 'clues' needed. strace maybe too obscure tho.
Maybe it just needs sudo. Oh: swap maybe! #8? Or bug

I'd dig thru a web-search of:
mintinstall "Segmentation fault"|killed
But *I* have never used this (just 'CLI' apt...; low resources so I don't run GUIs)
p.s. I'd 'edit' the title to say specifically mintinstall (vs. the many sm's)

as jjanel pointed out, mintupdate IS a software manager...
