Screen Savers in Mint 17

Hello Everyone, My user name is beridan and I absolutely love Linux and am a wet behind the ears, green as grass newbie. I have upgraded from mint mate 16 to mint qiana/mate 17 and I am trying to find new screen savers and also I used to be able to access the Linux Mint start page from the menu but it seems to have gone away. Those are my concerns/problems for now. I would appreciate any help from this learned community. Thank you.

Screensavers on Linux do not work like screensavers on Windows. One does not randomly install third-party software and have multiple separate screensaver programs.

Most of the native Mint screensavers are respins of the Gnome-screensaver, which itself is a lamer limited respin of Jamie Zawinski's xscreensaver.

Open the Synaptic Package Manager and remove the default screensaver package(s) and install xscreensaver and its related data packages. You will then have hundreds of screensavers to choose from and play with.
