Prints from canon Canon-MF642C faded when printed from browser

When I print from either firefox or brave (chormium-based), the print is faded. When I print from anything else it's fine. I tried increasing the dpi from 300 to 600 in /etc/cups/ppd/Canon-MF642C-643C-644C.ppd, which reflect when I look at the settings in the gui.

Additionally, if I "print" to pdf, then print the PDF from Xreader, it prints fine.

What is causing this for browser printing only?

A search for "print from browser faded" reveals other people with the same problem, including on non-Linux OSes and other printers.

There are suggestions it may be as trivial as the browser turning on high speed / draft option every time - look for such a setting in the print dialog and see if increasing it helps?

Either way, given that other software prints fine, it sounds like these are browser bugs, so you should try resolving them via Firefox Support and Brave Support.

I suggest updating to 20.3 which has a new version of Firefox. If you are new to Linux mint here how. Note making a snap shot use a external hard drive for that.
