"Preferred Applications" will not remember what image viewer I want to use
I am using linux Mint 17.3 Rosa Cinnamon.
Recently I had been trying a few different default image viewers for the default file manager Nemo 2.8.7.
I had been trying a file viewer called Mirage, but wanted to change it to Gthumb. So I altered the entry in Preferred Applications to Gthumb. However when I clicked on an image file in Nemo, Mirage popped up. So I went back to Preferred Applications and saw that Mirage was given as the default viewer rather than the Gthumb I had set it at. So I changed it back to Gthumb again. Went through this cycle a few times, same result.
So I uninstalled Mirage. Again in Preferred Applications I told it to use Gthumb for images. This time Eye Of Gnome popped up. Did the same as above, have now uninstalled Eye Of Gnome as well.
Now Wine Internet Explorer pops up and is shown in Preferred Applications, not Gthumb as I had set it. Would prefer not to uninstall Wine.
How do I get Preferred Applications to remember to use Gthumb? I have repeatedly set the default image viewer to be Gthumb, but when I click on an image some other viewer pops up, and when I take another look at Preferred Applications it now shows this viewer rather than the Gthumb I get it at.
I have not had any problems with changing the default image viewer before today. Gthumb is working fine if I right-click on an image and select Gthumb.
Thanks.
