Can't burn on this machine and other comp is dead. .... |
How is your linux knowledge? You can simply burn to CD/DVD using a program such as k3b. You can also create a bootable image on a USB stick which I normally do at the command line. Let us know which direction you want to head in.

Burn to dvd (won't fit on cd) as "burn as image"

http://forum.mepiscommunity.org/view...388271#p388271 That is what I install on XP era machines myself. Linux Lite , or The latest snapshots of MX linux. Could be a viable option for you also. These 2 are XFCE distros. One based on Debian <MX> the other on Ubuntu <Linux-Lite> Happy Trailz , Rok |
How about reading the detailed Linux Mint wiki which explains everything from downloading, burning to disk and installing.
http://www.wikihow.com/Install-Linux-Mint I doubt you'll have much luck with Mint on a computer that old. You probably will have to first download some burning software if you haven't already. In addition to the suggestions above, you can go to the site below and select various parameters and get more suggestions. |
If you are currently using Windows XP, you need to get a Windows program that can "burn" a DVD, or USB.
I have an ancient Dell Pentium M computer which will not run with the newer versions of Mint, but does great with Mint 13 MATE. Try that - if your "old" computer is that old. |
Ok...Toshiba sattelite
Comp.config:1gig.memory,pentium 4 3.33ghz.lots of space on hd. I've Now 2 diff.dvd's:1 with iso file-1 with file unpacked.. Change boot in bios but neither Will boot... And ideas? Sry that we have a timezone issue. .. |
With whatever image burning software you used, you should have an option to 'burn as image' which should create a bootable image. If you have a DVD with just the iso file on it, it's useless and won't work. What happens when you try to boot the DVD? Can you access another computer with a DVD drive to test the DVD?
