...hello and welcome to LQ. Thanks for pointing to that site but maybe you don't understand how distribution fora work in LQ. They don't get added arbitrarily but when distribution owners ask for them. They also need to support the forum overhere.

Thanks unSpawn, I was unaware of that.

Have a great day!

The problem with Mint forums is that it's only Mint.

Here you have other Debian based distroes too, so you get much more
opinions and suggestions on how to handle problems etc.

And of course quite a few people do frequent distro hopping, so it's
easier to just have one login than registering for each distros forums.

Mint Forums messy

1st post on LQ so i may as well jump right in... :)

The Mint forums are certainly a great place to learn about Mint, but they're incredibly messy & it's hard to find anything on some of the "Lesser" releases (ie: 64 bit edition, MintFlux,XFCE etc). I'm currently using the 64 bit edition (rel 7) and i have to say it's absolutely amazing, but i have gleaned more info from LQ & the Ubuntu forums than i ever have at the Mint forums..... which is a shame.

I have been using Mint since Mint 6 came out on two desktops. Switched from Ubuntu. Ubuntu is a very good OS with great forums. I just had problems with lack of some codecs. Mint solved the issues.

I have no issues with the Mint forums and I am 69 years old. I just do not like working under the hood. I want a secure and easy to use Operating System. Have not used Windows for nearly five years.
Recently installed Mint 7 on a new Acer wireless laptop. Everything works out of the box.

I belong to over ten different forums, three different subjects, with different logins. No problem. I have my methods. I also keep all logins on a 32mb flash drive for quick reference if needed. The flash drive is plugged in "only" if needed which is rare. I do not keep any logins on the PC. Firefox is configured to clear "All" data when it is closed out.
When I install a OS, I do not use a real name for user name, no addresses either.

Linux has been a great life saver these past five years. I use Yahoo and Gmail web based email so never, ever any email application issues. Both have great Spam control.
Your mileage may vary.
