Mint 13 XFCE Pulseaudio Wine and Spotify issues

I have an older machine I wanted to try and reuse, make something useful out of it. I wanted to try out Mint because I'd heard good things about it. The Mint 13 XFCE distro is what I found works best.

To do something useful with the machine I googled around to see if I could get audio from Spotify streaming across my network to be picked up by my media center PC. The link I found to accomplish that is here: http://tormod.landet.net/2009/06/19/...to-squeezebox/

Basically (if I understand this right) you use PulseAudio to push the Spotify (running in Wine) stream through Icecast out to the network. I hit snag in the first section "Now, run Spotify as padsp wine spotify.exe. Spotify should pop up in your PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol) in the Playback tab." No matter what I do I can't get Spotify to show up in the Volume control section.

OSS output driver is not a selection. More googling around told me that's available for my version of Wine. First I tried to roll back to an earlier version of Wine, which was unsuccessful. Now, I'm trying to the ALSA plugin that works in Mint.

Can anyone help me out with this? Does someone already have a setup like this running?

After posting to several forums I got this tidbit back from the Wine forums "The Ubuntu packages use the unofficial winepulse driver, which is not supported here. I believe they do have a thread just for Wine sound issues that is monitored by the developer of the winepulse driver."

Is this the case? When I check the about section, it just tells me "Wine 1.4". If I go to "Wine>Configure Wine" I can add the spotify application in, but the application still doesn't show up when I get to "pavucontrol".

Attached is the output when I try to run the "padsp wine spotify.exe" command. Hopefully that's helpful to someone.
