LMDE2 wifi hotspot problem

Hi there,

I am setting up a hotspot on my notebook and it worked, and it will use a randomly password everytime in use, I changed that to a fixed one but then the hotspot does not function, I can't even see it on the cell phone. I must delete the hotspot and create a new one with the random password, I find it very annoying but I couldn't change that, any idea ?

I'm guessing that changing it messes with the default.

In other words the passwords configuration file is most likely set to a default setting.
This would explain why you can't get it to work now because you changed it to a fixed one.

Try changing it back to what it originally was set to for now until a member that is using their phone as a hotspot can advise you.

Is your phone an Android device?

If so this video should help.

Calling your cell phone provider is another way. I'd think that AT&T or Verizon know how to change that password permanently.

Can you change it back or do a reset?

I try to use it today but the hotspot use my password not the system generated one, since it won't connect so I create a new hotspot again and I got a new randomly password ! the hotspot part is quite broken and buggy I give it up !

Sorry to hear it's buggy.

The only other thing I can think of is to reset your phone.
