LM 19.3 to 20 failed miserably

Hi guys

Linux Mint 19.3 to 20 on ASUS laptop

I did an upgrade on my laptop and it seemed that everything went fine and after reboot I ended up with (initramfs) and a blinking marker.

Using advanced options doesn't matter, none of the choices makes it work.

Using Timeshift to restore my backup doesn't work either and all I get in the startup now are 4 choices:

Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon
Advanced options for Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon
Memory test
Memory test serial

I don't know what information you need to help me on this so just tell me and I'll get it.

Thanks

Have you UEFI or EFI?

I don't and the Mint 20 dvd pukes on that . I haven't bothered going further, just raised a middle finger in their general direction.

My upgrade failed miserably as well. So I just did a new install. My home directories are on a separate volume and I backed up /etc, so I didn't lose anything.

Mint is Ubuntu, with go-faster stripes in X. There's only 1 mint repo, with not a lot in it.

I saw the warning that Chromium effectively doesn't get installed in Mint 20.

Since, I'm not allowing snap or even flatpak near my PC's, it seems that the solution is to use the Debian version.
[It works fine in LMDE4].
(Just received an update - in apt-get format).

Do you have access the command line and does it work?

To check lets try these commands below saw what the output states to test. see if it lists any broken packages or unmet dependencies.

Code:
sudo apt update
Code:
sudo apt check
