Internet not working with batter power

When on battery power can not log onto Internet.
If I run a script to turn on iwconfig power on fit works. But I have to run the script every time.
Tried to put the script into rc.local thinking it would run every time the computer starts this did not work any suggestions as two why ?
Or how I can permanently fix this issue.

What do you mean "not log on to the internet"? I assume you mean just accessing any page.
So when plugged in you can browse the internet no problems? And when you are on battery power you cannot access any page?

Have you tried pinging your router? What does that do?
In the mean time, maybe run a crontab for every 3 minutes to test if it is off then run the script?
Using KDE, I found a directory ~/.kde/Autostart. Maybe if you find something similar in your GUI then try putting the script there?

I am merely a beginner with Linux, maybe even more beginner than you.

Also, post the script you wrote.

Thanks

script iwconfig wlan0 power on
is what I typed in.
This is what the issue is my wireless devise in off when on battery power.
When its plugged in its working.
Actually its not off just not working. I had a friend of mine tell me it was a power management issue.
If I type in the command I showed you it works great. But I dont want to have to type in the Command every time I use the lap top on Battery Power.
Can you help?

I tried
Code:
man iwconfig
I realized that when the power option for the wlan0 interface actually means you are setting power MANAGEMENT options for the interface. My guess is that by running "power on", you are re-enabling power management, which causes the wifi to wake up and work. Strange.

Can you post what you get from
Code:
iwconfig
Most probably, to fix your problem, you can turn power management off, which may leave it on always.

Try
Code:
iwconfig wlan0 power off
You can later read "man iwconfig" to customize sleep and wake-up parameters for your wifi card
