Installing OpenOffice

Today I installed Linux Mint for the first time. When I tried to install OpenOffice using the software manager, it went through the motions but OpenOffice did not come up in the applications menu and did not come up when I searched for it. The software manager says something about it being a "transitional" version.

What gives? Am I locked into Libre Office? Do I need to uninstall Libre Office (can I even do this?) before installing another office suite? Even Microsoft wouldn't pull something like this

LibreOffice right now IS 99.999999% the same as OpenOffice ( at lease 99%)

now over the next 5 to 10 years they will evolve differently but they will still be close

a quick history
"OpenOffice" owned by sun systems
bought out by Oracle
wanted to CLOSE SOURCE open office

birth of " libreoffice"
( fork of the OO source code)

mass job migration 90% of the sun/oracle OO devs QUIT
moved to LibreOffice

Oracle "saw the light"
And gave OpenOffice to the Apache foundation
