Question Installer fails when writing partition table

Hello, I hope someone can help.

I'm trying to install Mint 9 (64bit) but it fails when trying to set up my partitions.
here are the settings I want to use:

and here is the error message:

http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/6500/second.png

I have tried using different partition settings (no /home partition, using ReiserFS instead of EXT4, ect) but the result is the same. Currently the hard drives have one partition for / and 4 gigs for swap. I am doing a new install over my Mint 8 32bit install.

Also, the /dev/mapper/pdc_fj.... whatever is just two 80 gig hard drives that Mint keeps putting together as a Raid 1. I'd rather it not do that but mint 8 did the same thing and I didn't know how to get around it so I figured I would keep it for the benefit of surviving a hard drive failure.

If someone could help me install mint 9 I would really appreciate it! Let me know if I need to post more information.

Here is the output of lspci:
Code:

Boot off a slax (or Knoppix) live CD, set up the partitions, save and restart from your Mint CD

Thanks for the help friend! That seems to fix it, the installer is running right now.

Could you point me in the right direction to learn how to keep mint from putting my two hard drives together as RAID automatically?

Unfortunately not. It seems to buried deep inside the kernel.

I imagine its recognising the partition type for LVM (x'8e') and the metadata for the RAID1.
When you create the partitions, make sure they are Linux (x'83').
