Displaying the Workspace Number

Running 17.2 Cinnamon.

How can I put an icon in the Panel (or the desktop) to show the Workspace number? BTW, 'xprop' shows the same info for both workspaces.

assuming the panel does not actually have a plugin for that, does it have a plugin to display the output of a command?

I activated one corner of the screen to display the Expo Workspace view.
Menu > Preferences > Hot Corners
So all I have to do is tap that corner with my mouse to see all workspaces, and switch workspaces.

TxLonghorn: I have that feature, but I want the workspace number to always be displayed without a keystroke or mouse movement. Thx for the suggestion though.

Assume there is one...what command would return the workspace number? I'm stumped for one.

Sound of hand slapping forehead.

Turns out there's an applet for that :-)

It's called "Workspace switcher." It adds a workspace number icon to the panel.
