black screen of doom
Hi Folks,
I have been a Linux Mint 14 user for a while. When Fedora 18 came out, I installed that instead, but then decided to return to Mint. I used gparted to partition my hard drive, deleted Fedora , and set up my / , /home and swap partitions as usual as EXT2. I installed the Linux mint 64 bit edition.
Now when Mint starts to boot, it starts booting, shuts down to a black screen, and eventually boots after a long delay. There is nothing different about my graphics card setup.
Even more curious, I tried to install Ubuntu 12.10, which I had also used before. The same problem occured. I reinstalled Fedora 18 with no problem. Has there been updated Mint 14 / Ubuntu releases with a different kernel? I have no idea what is going on here.
The third attempt at the mint install didn't boot at all with Mint checking the hard drive at each boot, for errors.
Any ideas?
