Battery Monitor widget not detecting battery

Running Linux Mint 16 KDE on a Toshiba laptop Satellite M645.

The battery monitor widget is not longer detecting my battery. It says no batteries available. I know it was working before and maybe an update or a program I installed screwed it up. If I run acpi from the terminal, the battery is detected. “Battery 0: Charging, 93%, 00:15:38 until charged”. Is there a config file that may have gotten overwritten or is there a way to re-install the widget? I went into the battery monitor settings on the widget itself, but don't see any settings that would help.

Update: I put my computer into sleep and then woke it back up and now the battery is detected. Not sure why that fixed it buy hey it works now!!

Hi you may be able to find a package called ibam

this is the terminal command to monitor battery

it has a "plugin" package called gkrellm-ibam (on debian) and you would run gkrellm which is a gui

2) I don't use any hibernate or sleep functions myself as I believe I save my battery by turning off

good luck

Hi:

Welcome to Linux Questions!

Glad your battery is being detected now. Seems a little odd that going from sleep mode to full mode put a stop to the non-detection.

I don't know Mint that well (only tried it once) but I'm thinking that the setting your looking for should be in
Settings> Power Management-
