Fedora 35 with Plasma Mobile on an X1 Yoga 6th gen - when using as a tablet the UI is almost a pleasure to use. I can have windows floating as normal, or use a window rule to always maximize, giving a more mobile-like experience.

That's a screenshot of the "real thing". My first experience with GNU/Linux, like many, was Ubuntu. I installed that 6.06 Dapper Drake on my system in the summer of 2006. In the next few weeks, I installed numerous distributions (was multi-booting 18 of them). I wanted to get a feel for the operating systems and how each of them differed. Within a very short time, I settled on Slackware. It has been my primary OS on all my machines for 16 years now.

A current screenie of my Slackware:

As you can see, my basic desktop setup hasn't changed much in 16 years. HA!

The only clues being the panel and pcmanfm running, I'm guessing LXDE. Or just openbox.

Mageia v. 8 with Fluxbox. Thunderbird and Firefox are shaded in a tabbed window. Xclock and GKrellM are on the right. The wallpaper is from my collection.
