That's a screenshot of the "real thing". My first experience with GNU/Linux, like many, was Ubuntu. I installed that 6.06 Dapper Drake on my system in the summer of 2006. In the next few weeks, I installed numerous distributions (was multi-booting 18 of them). I wanted to get a feel for the operating systems and how each of them differed. Within a very short time, I settled on Slackware. It has been my primary OS on all my machines for 16 years now.
A current screenie of my Slackware:
As you can see, my basic desktop setup hasn't changed much in 16 years. HA!

The only clues being the panel and pcmanfm running, I'm guessing LXDE. Or just openbox.

clock is day of wk, date of month, year and 24 hour clock
pcmanfm is controlling the wallpaper but I use kb combos so not showing any desktop icons
