Not Linux, but a blast from the past, made possible by VM. Check out RAM usage, with Gnome 2 with Firefox 3.5.8 running!

You know how in a fantasy novel, the wizard shoos everyone out of the room and otherwise ensures he will not be disturbed during casting of the Really Big Big Dangerous Daemon Summoning? Yeah, partitioning is like that.

no pain, no gain
this install of Arch is alot cleaner/minimal , it is almost a good thing i overwrote it.
i think that my overwritten Arch were 1.5 - 2 years old and i tested different window managers and stuff on it.
now i just have base system and couple prog's + xfce4.
and windows running on VirtualBox.

Ubuntu MATE with the Fluxbox window manager, GKrellM, and xclock. Firefox and Thunderbird are shaded in a tabbed window. (Being able to tab windows is one reason I usually use Fluxbox.)

Code:
startx /bin/ratpoison

Ratpoison DE is a lot to get back to used to but it's nice being able to ignore the touchpad...

Fluxbox on Mageia v. 8. Thunderbird and Firefox are shaded in a tabbed window. Xclock and GKrellM are on the right. The wallpaper is from my collection.

If only I had free as in freedom: hardware, like next year! Study, save, ; then I won't have to stop google from using chrome because I won't be!

A lot of the ones from that GNU link remind me of twenty-plus years ago, looking up wallpapers as I started with Linux.
Add: I also remember listening to a lot of those radio shows, late at night on MPR when I was supposed to be sleeping.

I'm still listening to radio shows, but mostly at OTR (old time radio) websites. As I type this, I'm listening to a BBC dramatization of Dorothy Sayers's Clouds of Witness starring Ian Carmichael.
