Don't know the distribution (no clues for that), but that's GNOME (a recent version, possibly 3.14).
Applications from the top:
Generic file manager.
Generic terminal emulator.
Chromium/Chrome.
EMACS.
Firefox.
Don't know.
Don't know.
GNOME-tweak-tool.
Good luck with your homework!
:P

This is Gnome, moxin, but it doesn't show any clue to the distro. On the left is the Gnome's "quick" launcher for apps; on the right are the Workspace thumbnails; the top panel and, yes, the bottm panel shows Dropbox. The Super Key brings in this view, and typing an app's name would enter the applications dash.
Why would you need this to be identified, man! Just curious!

Last time I used OpenSuse, it had a similar wallpaper with this texture on Green background. But I can't tell
definitely if the wallpaper comes only with Suse.

yes that's one of the default wallpapers of Gnome, but the distro could be OpenSUSE actually.

Did a img search. It's an image from this article:
http://culbutte.be/atelier-avril-201...et-gnome-shell
It's probably Ubuntu, because the author gives an easy explanation about replacing Unity with GNOME.
