Yellow Dog 3.0.1 on an iBook 900mhz G3 with OS X

Wow, been a while since I've hit the forums and my reason for being here has definitely changed.

Was originally coming around to ask questions for help in my battle to load Linux on my iBook, and never really did figure out the display issues Mandrake PPC had with the Radeon 7500.

But, Yellow Dog on the other hand made things brainless. And being a newb at the time that's exactly what I needed. I didn't have to sweat a single driver, not even for my Airport. There isn't a single issue yet (some odd months since install) with Yellow Dog running along-side OS X.

The setup is perfect. I only got into Darwin and MACs to begin with because of school (Recording Arts Program) but Linux grabbed me simply because of what you can do with it.... I won't go into specifics here. So, my ideal situation, was one that allowed me one laptop to run OS X (the current version of Pro Tools requires it) for all of my audio apps as most of the recording I do is live venues, as well as Linux for surfing, word processing, media players, pictures.. etc.

Bring the laptop home, and the setup is complete. My primary desktop is running XP Pro with Red Hat 9 along-side. File transfer from the external drives to the the drives in the desktops and vice-versa is as smooth as can be. Go do a show at some club, record it all into Pro Tools on an external HFS formatted drive. Bring everything home, swap the session and audio files to the NTFS hardrive on the desktop, and do my post production editing and mixing in Pro Tools running on a beast of a Pentium IV XP machine.....life is good.

I'm in my glory as a tech/audio geek right now. No networking issues what-so-ever, no device issues, no display issues, no issues in any way shape or form.

Linux on an iBook with OS X? Go with Yellow Dog, especially if you're a newb.
