XPS M1210: MediaButtons

Hey!
I'm doubtful that this is the perfect subforum for this thread, but for the time being, I can't decide on where else to put it.

I have a laptop, the Dell XPS M1210, and on the front are 7 Media Buttons.
I got the Media Buttons to work today be setting my Keyboard type to:
Laptop/Notebook Dell Inspiron 6xxx/8xxx in SaX2 Configuration.

Now, my Mute and Volume Controle buttons work globally.

The Volume step is too great, though. That's one problem. I blame KMilo, because that appears to be responsible for the "Special Key Notifier"-ness.. Turning that off disables the "Mute" and "Volume Up/Down" dialogs from appearing when I press those buttons, along with the actions themselves. The buttons still work, though, if I have them configured as global shortcuts for programs elsewhere.

I'd like to fix that problem -- configure how the volume controle works and make it less "powerful"..

Another issue is that I want to configure Amarok to use my Media Buttons while playing, and did so in the "Configure Global Shortcuts" Dialog under the Settings menu. The keys were detected when I pressed them, and came up as "XF86AudioPlay", "XF86AudioStop", and so on. WHILE the Amarok playlist is up on my screen, they work correctly. When I minimize the application, or close it to the system tray, however, the other shortcuts work but the ones involving media buttons do not.

That's the major issue I wanna solve, not sure how to even think about it.. I would like to be able to controle Amarok by using the media buttons only, without having to open the playlist before they'll be recognized. Otherwise, the purpose is defeated..

Thank you in advance for any and all help!

Hey, just bought the same model xps, just wondering if you were able to resolve the media buttons with amarok, and if so, how? i've noticed the same problem myself, and tried resetting it a few times before realizing it wasn't going to stay like that...
