Xorg disables Fn Keys ?

Greetings

I have an issue regarding xorg and backlit brightness settings. Im using a laptop (Vostro 1400/ 965 Intel Graphics Chipset). The problem is that when im working in terminal (init 3) i can adjust the backlit brightness using the apropriate key combination. But when i fire up X, that stops. The weird thing is that it's "trying" to set the level im pointing. When i say "trying" i mean it adjusts the setting just for 1/2 second and then returns to the previous one.I 've seen such issues in other forums but nothing seems to be working and most ppl fixed that accidentaly (maybe a patch upgrade?). Im using a vanilla 2.6.23.12 kernel with the same config from my previous slackware installation (it worked fine so i dont think its kernel dependent) and Zenlinux5.0 (Checked with default kernel as well). Btw xbacklight 1.0 works fine and xorg.conf uses dri, glx and gl_core modules.

Any suggestions?
