x server will not load

I have basically just finished the installation of Kororaa (binary of Gentoo) on my Dell Inspiron 1200. When it first tried to boot into Gnome, it hung and just kicked me into console mode, saying that X Server could not be loaded.
Initially I had a blank xorg.conf, but I ran a couple commands and got some (yes, different ones), that did not work. If I try to startx it told me that the speedo module was missing and that no screens found. I doubt it was the correct way to solve the problem, but I removed the speedo module from xorg.conf.
I have tried vesa, vga, and i810 as drivers for my video, but none of them worked successfully. The "farthest" it would go is to a lined yellow screen with a working cursor but with nothing else, so I just ctrl-alt-backspaced back to the console. I know it should work with vesa (and i810, I have 915GM), but it says something about no matching device. I am sure I missed a lot of things, (I cannot post a URL, so search StealthZyxel on Kororaa forums; hopefully I do not get punished for this...). I will be post more requested information later. Thank you in advance!

Post here your xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log (maybe /usr/local/var/log/Xorg.0.log or something else like /usr/X11R6/..)

Replace i810 with "vesa"
- or -
add
Chipset "915GM"

What happens (without logs in first case, probably..)?

What lspci says?
Do you consider using X.org X11R7.1?

Wow sweet. Thank you so much. I got it to work by changing "i810" to "vesa". (I thought I already tried that, but oh well).

Oh wait, troubleshooting is not over.. "vesa" works nearly always, it's of no interest. And it lacks acceleration...

Okay, hmm, what do you suggest next?

Thanks for getting me this far. I hope we can get it be accelerated.
