X Crashing on Armada 1750
Hi there
Weird problem on an Armada 1750 laptop running Fedora Core 1 and KDE. When I close the lid a small switch blanks the screen to save the battery. If I do this for more than a second or two X Windows crashes and all I get is a blank screen. Note that this is certainly an X Windows problem as:
1) Keying Cntl-Alt-Backspace kills X and restarts it back at the logon screen.
2) This does not happen during bootup, closing and opening the lid just blanks the video as it should.
3) This does not happen in 'text mode'. If I key Cntl-Alt-F4 at a blank screen I get a text login prompt. Cntl-Alt-F7 does NOT however get me back to X Windows.
4) The screen blanking switch works fine on Windows 98, the original OS.
So, how do I stop X Windows crashing every time I close the lid ? Internal video card is correctly detected as an ATI Mach 64 by Fedora setup so I know I am using the right driver.
