Wireless problem on Compaq V2000 + Ubuntu 7.04

I have a Compaq V2000 laptop installed with Ubuntu 7.04 (AMD64).
My network card is Broadcom 4318
I cannot connect the laptop to internet through wireless network.

It seems that the system recognized my wireless network card but the
network card is not turned on.
(My friend has a dell laptop also installed with Ubuntu. If he turned
off the wireless by pressing Fn+F1 (a hotkey with Dell's laptop), then
the information he get is just like that on my computer.)

There is a wireless button on the keyboard that can switch the
wireless on and off under Windows XP system. The button has a little
blue light on it which indicates the state (on or off) of wireless.

Under Ubuntu, this little blue light is always off. However, I cannot
turn the light (and the wireless function) on by press the wireless
button.

Does anybody have the idea how to turn the wireless network on?

This figure shows the V2000 keyboard:

The leftmost button on the top of the keyboard, which is to the left
of the orange power button and above the F5 key, is the "wireless
button".

Sorry about that. It's just I was not sure which board to post it.

Just googled and figured out that it is due to the problem of the native drive within Linux.
Installed ndiswrapper and then the drive of Windows for this wireless network card.
It now works!

Thanks all the same!
